Owers and farmers of Bear Creek Homestead

meet the farmers

Welcome to Bear Creek!

Allow us to introduce ourselves; We are Jordan and Merissa Piper and our small farm is affectionately known as Bear Creek Homestead. We’ve named it after our beloved pup Mocha Bear, and the small creek that is tucked away on our property.

We got into farming largely because of our desire to eat food that is cleaner, healthier, and unmedicated in comparison to what’s available in grocery stores. From there our farm has grown, slowly at times and quickly at others! Like any modern homestead story it all started with a few chickens, and then we added turkeys, rabbits, more chickens, and a pair of guardian dogs.

Next up in the natural progression was to add a small ruminant - but I just wasn’t sold on goats and wasn’t sure why. So we prayed about it. A lot! After months of prayer it became clear that goats were not for us but instead we were to start raising sheep. My desire to raise sheep grew into a desire to learn more about our Father through the beautiful relationship of a Shepherd and His sheep.

Fast forward two years later and the hills of our homestead are now dotted with a flock of 11 sheep, each one with their own personality and infectious joy. Becoming shepherds was a blessing we didn’t know we needed!

Anyway, that's enough about us. Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy our farm as much as we do!

Joyfully,
Merissa
